Owner and Head-Trainer
Laura took over Shropshire Dog Training Centre (formally School for Paws) in July 2015.
"In the training classes I get to help owners to understand canine behaviour and to communicate more effectively with their dogs. The best part is seeing the progression of owner and dog from the first class to the last.”
Laura became a professional dog trainer in 2009 after completing a course at Harper Adams University. Since then Laura's knowledge of canine behaviour and training has developed through taking numerous courses, reading the latest research papers and attending workshops and seminars.
More recently Laura became a Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Trainer (VSPDT) and has helped out at Crufts and other prestigious events.
Over the years Laura has developed a deep understanding of dog behaviour from observing/interacting with her own dogs, as well as working with client’s dogs.
Laura is a fantastic trainer with lovely people skills, making all her clients feel at ease.
As well as running her own business, Laura has two young children and a Romanian rescue dog.
Administrator and Trainee Dog Trainer
Annabelle joined the team at Shropshire Dog Training Centre in May 2021.
Annabelle fell in love with dog training through her experience owning and training (and loving) rescue dogs. Three years ago, Annabelle took her dog to agility and went from there.
Annabelle is behind the scenes answering emails, Facebook messages and texts/voicemails. You may also see a post from her on the Facebook page. If you attend agility classes, you'll probably see her taking part with her little rescue dog.
Annabelle has BSc Psychology (First Class) and MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology (Distinction). She also has Animal Care Level 2 (Distinction) and Animal Behaviour Level 3 (Distinction). Annabelle is currently working towards becoming IMDT trained and you might see her taking classes on the odd occassion.
Annabelle loves seeing owners and dogs grow in confidence, having fun and strengthening their bond with each other. She believes that every dog deserves a chance and that there's a class out there for everyone to enjoy.
As well as working for Shropshire Dog Training Centre, Annabelle loves dancing, wild swimming and walking her dog.
